Lip Augmentation

Lip filler is one of the most sought-out treatments for patients of all age groups. The lips are particularly prone to showing signs of aging as our bodies produce less collagen over time. The lips tend to thin out, the space between the lip and the nose extends, and vertical lines begin to pop up along the border of the lip.

Lip enhancements are completely customizable, and techniques and products differ depending on the patient’s desired outcomes. Many patients are terrified of an “over-done” appearance or having other people know that they had lip filler. Peak Plastic Surgery Center prides itself on natural looking results that restore shape and hydration to your natural lips.

What Filler
is Used for Lips?

Peak Plastic Surgery Center only offers fillers that uphold the highest safety standards while providing optimal results. These biodegradable hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers typically include Restylane Kysse, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, and Juvederm Ultra Plus. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found throughout the human body that aids in providing hydration and volume to the skin by attracting water. In some patients, a combination approach might be used to provide the best results. This might include the addition of a wrinkle relaxer to reduce the fine lines above the lip, reduce the appearance of a gummy smile, or provide an additional “lip-flip.”

Before & After

What Does Maintenance Look Like?

Depending on the amount and the product used, lip filler should last between 6-12 months. Some patients prefer to have maintenance appointments where smaller amounts of filler are placed to maintain results long term. Other patients prefer to come back once the filler has completely worn off before having more placed.
A common misconception is that lip filler can stretch the lips out and once the body has broken it down the remaining skin will appear saggy. This is not the case as the body gradually dissolves the HA and the skin has time to adjust accordingly. While most patients choose to continue maintaining their lip filler, it is not something that is required.

What Can I Expect During My Appointment?

Our Physician Assistant will perform a thorough consultation to determine if you are a good lip filler candidate and what product will achieve the best results. Whether you are looking to achieve a fuller more defined look or looking to reduce fine lines, a customized treatment plan will be made for you.

This may include dermal fillers and/or the addition of small amounts of wrinkle relaxer around the mouth to get optimal results.

Numbing cream will be applied at least 30 minutes prior to injection and a dental block can also be performed to reduce discomfort. The procedure will take approximately 30 minutes and results will be seen immediately.

Some swelling will be present following the injections and can worsen over the first 24-48 hours. Bruising is also a possibility and appointments should be made at least 2 weeks prior to any important event or vacation. It is recommended to avoid alcohol, salty foods, makeup, and exercise for 24 hours following the procedure. Complete results and symmetry can be assessed at 2 weeks.

Are lip fillers safe?

Yes, they are. The fillers we use at Peak Plastic Surgery are all FDA-approved, and our team is experienced and understands how to achieve dramatic yet natural-looking results.

Are lip filler injections painful?

No, most people don’t find lip filler injections painful. Though most don’t need it, we can apply a topical anesthetic to help make you more comfortable. Some patients report a slight feeling of pressure but no discomfort.

How long do lip fillers usually last?

For many patients, lip fillers can be very long-lasting. How long your results last will depend on a number of factors, including the type of filler used, how fast your body absorbs it, and your general health. Many can see their results last up to a year or longer in some cases before a maintenance procedure may be needed.

Can lip fillers hurt your lips?

Overuse and over-injection of lip fillers can stretch the skin or hurt the underlying tissue. That’s why at Peak Plastic Surgery, we create a customized lip filler treatment plan for you to achieve the best results in a safe timeline. Our team isn’t just technically experienced using lip fillers; they understand the aesthetic nuances to create great results that look natural.
