The surgery can combat any degree of breast ptosis from mild to severe. Dr. Barker in Denver, CO delivers thoughtful, elegant results that are highly personalized for each patient.

What Is A Breast Lift?

A breast lift is a cosmetic surgery that lifts and reshapes the breasts by reducing loose skin and tightening the remaining breast tissues to produce a firmer, more youthful appearance. This surgery is offered for women who have lost breast firmness, size, and shape and who are experiencing breast sagging due to weight loss, pregnancy, or aging.

What Can I Expect After A Breast Lift?

Following a breast lift, incisions will be closed with dissolvable sutures and covered with small sterile surgical dressings. The dressings will remain in place until the first postoperative visit (within one week of surgery). Typically, patients will feel slight discomfort in their breasts for the first 3-5 days following surgery. The pain will continue to decrease daily, and most patients can return to work within 3-5 days after surgery.

During the operation, Dr. Barker will inject an anesthetic to block the nerves in the breasts. This lasts for up to 3 days to help control immediate postoperative pain. After the surgery, patients typically only need over-the-counter medications (acetaminophen and ibuprofen) to assist with pain control. Patients are allowed to shower 24 hours after surgery, and they will be placed in a no-wire surgical bra, which is recommended for the first six weeks of recovery.

Patients should avoid strenuous activity for the first 4-6 weeks following surgery. They are usually cleared for full activity without restrictions within 2-3 months. Swelling is expected during the first few months after surgery and typically resolves within 6 months post-op. Dr. Barker is available to answer all your questions in detail, ensuring your healing process is seamless, stress-free, and comfortable.

How much does a breast lift cost?

During your initial appointment, Dr. Barker will pay attention to your needs and aesthetic goals before creating your unique treatment plan. When performed with skill and experience, a breast lift will significantly enhance your physical appearance, so it’s important to concentrate on choosing a reputable surgeon with years of training, like Dr. Barker, rather than focusing solely on pricing. To help make cosmetic surgery easier to afford, Peak Plastic Surgery Center will help you find low-interest financing if needed.

Do I need a breast lift or breast implants?

Whether you should have a breast lift, implants, or both depends on your unique concerns and goals. For many patients, a breast lift can improve the shape and fullness of the breasts without implants. Dr. Barker will assess your physical condition and listen to your goals during your consultation. He will then make a decision as to whether you should get a lift, implants, or an augmentation plus a lift.

Will my nipples be moved?

In most cases, the nipple-areola complex will be shifted up during a breast lift. If your areolas are overly large or stretched, then Dr. Barker can incorporate areola reduction during your surgery. This can be discussed during your initial appointment so he can decide on the best incision pattern to use.

How long will my results last?

With the proper care after surgery, your results can last for years. Your breasts will still age normally, however, so you could start to see loose and sagging skin again over time. Significant weight fluctuations can alter your results, so it is best to stay at a steady weight after your breast lift. Pregnancy or breastfeeding following a breast lift can also affect your results.

Can a breast lift fix asymmetry?

A lift can improve asymmetry in your breasts if they differ in size, firmness, or degree of sagging. Dr. Barker will evaluate the appearance and condition of your breasts during your consultation and talk about how a breast lift will be able to help you. During your surgery, he will adjust the tissue so your breasts appear balanced and overall symmetrical.
